Central Internal IT Service Platform
Central internal platform that brings IT tools, master data and business processes together in one workspace.
Internal company solution – presentation abstracted for confidentiality reasons.
- Problem
- Devices, credentials and employee information are scattered across isolated solutions.
- Solution
- A platform with central master data, roles, APIs and Microsoft integration – with self-service for business departments.
- Result
- One central workspace instead of many manual individual processes.
Initial situation
Information about employees, devices and credentials was spread across several tools and lists. Relationships had to be established manually, and many workflows ran via e-mail and personal hand-over.
Problem
Missing central master data led to duplicate maintenance, inconsistent states and unnecessary queries between IT and business departments.
Goal
Fewer isolated solutions and manual individual processes: one central interface with unambiguous master data, clear roles and documented interfaces.
Solution
A central service platform was developed for the internal IT processes.
- Central employee master data with a unique employee identifier as the business key
- Device and credential management
- Role and permission management
- APIs for connected systems
- Microsoft integration with SSO and MFA
- Self-service for business departments
- Technical documentation and interface overview directly in the platform
Result
One central workspace in which master data, devices and credentials are unambiguously assigned. Business departments handle defined tasks themselves while IT keeps roles, permissions and interfaces in view.
Business value
Less duplicate data maintenance, traceable responsibilities and a foundation on which further processes (onboarding, credentials, devices) can build.
My contribution
Design, development and operation of the platform including data model, role model and interfaces.
Technical details
Architecture
Web application with a central database for master data, devices and credentials. Connected systems communicate via documented APIs; sign-in and permissions run through the Microsoft identity (SSO, MFA) and a role model within the platform.
- User (IT / business department)
- Service platform (SSO, MFA, roles)
- Central master data
- APIs
- Microsoft 365 · devices · credentials
Technologies
Integrations, APIs and authentication
Microsoft integration (Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Graph) for identity and sign-in, REST APIs for connected tools, interface overview as part of the documentation.
Security
SSO and MFA via the corporate identity, role-based permissions in the platform, a unique employee identifier instead of freely assigned labels.
Technical highlights
- Unique employee identifier as the business key
- Role and permission model with self-service for business departments
- Documented APIs and interface overview in the platform
